Shopping for a new home is exciting, and exhausting. There is so much to think about and a laundry list of inspections you have to go through before you can move into your new place. It is important to pay particular attention to the aspects of the home that could end up costing you dearly if they fail in the first couple of years. The HVAC system is one such component. 1. Determine the Age of the Unit

6. Check the System Warranty

Proper installation and routine maintenance are prerequisites for most HVAC warranties. If the installation and the maintenance records all check out, then the system may still have some viable warranty coverage. This is good to know, especially if you are looking at a newer system that should have several years of life left. And many contractors offer transferrable warrantors. It doesn’t hurt to ask.
